Our AI methodology (in brief)
SignGuard uses a custom-adapted OpenAI GPT foundation model on EU-based servers. Your contract content is never used for training (our data processing agreement contractually disables any storage of your content — technically: "store: false"). Clauses are classified via a deviation comparison against market-standard terms, typical contract templates and statutory texts from public sources and our own legal database — not an individual legal assessment. Why we founded SignGuard
Maybe you know the feeling: a contract lands in front of you, you skim it briefly — and sign. With a slight doubt in the back of your mind about whether you really understood it all. That is exactly how it was for us.
We are Michael, André and Sven. Over the years, more and more contracts piled up in our lives: mobile plans, leases, subscriptions, insurance policies and plenty more. At some point we asked ourselves: how many contracts do we actually have running right now? When we counted, it was almost 30. And honestly: we had lost track long before that.
Notice periods were missed. Terms were skimmed instead of read. And with important documents there was often that uneasy feeling: did we really understand what we just signed? Like so many other people, we lost money unnecessarily and took on risks we were not even aware of.
So we asked ourselves a simple question: why are contracts so complicated — and why is there no tool that genuinely helps? SignGuard grew out of exactly that question.
First we built a solution for ourselves: a tool that analyzes contracts, spots critical clauses, explains the content in plain language and makes important deadlines visible — within seconds. When we showed it to friends and family, the reaction was always the same: "I could have used this ages ago." That was the moment we realized: this is not a niche problem. It affects almost everyone.
Today we are working to make SignGuard accessible to as many people as possible — so that nobody has to sign a contract without truly understanding it.
